Building a Home

Learn more about creating your dream home in the new heart of the Baton Rouge.

Our Process

  • The first step in the process is scheduling a visit to Harveston. Our team will give you a private tour of our five model homes and our community. You will learn more about the process for building a home, the builders, the lot options, floorplans — and even help with thinking through budget, financing, and timeline.

  • After meeting with our team, you will be able to select the lot of your choice — based on your unique preferences and lifestyle.

  • To maintain the quality and efficiency of residential construction in Harveston, all prospective homeowners must partner with one member of the Harveston Builder Group.

Selecting a builder is an important decision. Each builder has a slightly different approach and design sensibility, but they all have a deep understanding of the standards that ensure Harveston remains a community with lasting value and timeless appeal.

  • Selecting a plan is one of the most personal parts of the home building process. Each member of the Harveston Builders Group has a library of plans that you can select from.

You can also choose to commission custom plans. A custom plan offers the opportunity to tailor a home to your individual needs and preferences.

  • Once your plans are complete, your builder will provide a cost proposal for the home and lot of your choice.

When you and the builder have agreed on the plans, terms, and price, you will execute a purchase agreement.

Upon execution of the purchase agreement, the Builder shall purchase the lot from the Developer, obtain a construction loan utilizing the lot as collateral for the loan, and commence construction of the home.

  • Once under contract, construction will begin on your home. You and your builder will maintain close contact during the building process.

Once your home is substantially complete, you will have the opportunity to walk through the home to inspect and document outstanding items in a punch list for your builder to remedy prior to closing.

  • Once construction is complete, you will close on the home and lot in one transaction.
